Research and Cultural Collections

The University of Birmingham is home to a diverse cultural offer which includes public museums, galleries, archives, libraries and cultural venues.

The University of Birmingham’s Research and Cultural Collections is a cornucopia of extraordinary artefacts, including treasures such as West African masks, Pop Art prints, celestial globes, 19th century medical waxes, ancient Egyptian artefacts, and historic scientific instruments.  The collections variously play ceremonial, commemorative, decorative and didactic roles in University life.

To browse the collections, please use the online object database where you can also search the collections of the Barber Institute of Fine Arts, the Eton Myers Collection, the Lapworth Museum of Geology and Winterbourne House and Garden.

If you are researching a particular object and have further queries or would like to request access to curatorial files, please contact Research and Cultural Collections directly.
