Art Fund Museum of the Year Winner

The Museum of the Year Award for 2019 has been awarded to the St Fagans National Museum of History in south Wales.

Formerly known as the Art Fund Prize, the annual Museum of the Year Award is awarded from the Art Fund (an independent British charity) to a UK museum or gallery for their excellence and track record of innovation and imagination within the sector.

For 2019, the award of £100,000 was given to St Fagans National Museum of History in south Wales, after being shortlisted among other museums and galleries including the V & A Dundee and the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford. In 2018, the winner also underwent a £30 million redevelopment that included a refurbishment of the main entrance, the creation and installation of three entirely new galleries, as well as new dedicated learning and research spaces.

Congratulations to St Fagans!
