Antennae: The Journal of Nature in Visual Culture is a peer-reviewed, non-funded, independent, quarterly academic journal.
As part of a new volume, they are looking for submissions on ‘Plants in Art’, considering their representation, interpretation, and reinvention throughout the history of art. In collaboration with Michael Marder, editor of the volume Critical Plant Studies, this next issue of Antennae will consider various aspects of plants in art, including: agency, movement, sentience, neurobiology, greenhouses and botanical gardens, and botanical illustrations in contemporary art.
A range of different types of submissions from academic essays to art portfolios are welcomed for this next issue. Deadlines for abstracts of 350 words are required by 1st May 2019. Further information about the journal and the call for papers can be found on their website
