Digital Future Training Session: Introduction to Rights Management
The Digital Futures Programme is a training programme that forms part of the London Museum Development Group, which through the Arts Council England funded Outreach Programme will deliver over 12 courses each year that aim to develop the digital skills of London’s museums. Sessions will focus on marketing, social media, and how to create digital content.
The next training session will take place on Tuesday 14 January (10am – 4pm) in the Museum of London on ‘An Introduction to Rights Management’, which will explore intellectual property rights (IPR) and in particular works protected by copyright. This session will also provide an overview of copyright and its implications for museums, their audiences and collections, and discuss ideas of ownership, obtaining and recording permissions, risk management, and how this relates to the Spectrum 5.0 Rights management procedure within your organisation.
Attendees will be able to use the session to participate in discussions of these themes and ask questions, and are also encouraged to bring along any relevant documentation for the group to share and discuss throughout the day. The full outline for the course is available online, and to book a place on the training course you can complete the Digital Futures booking form.
A range of other training sessions are also available throughout 2020, including sessions on photographing museum collections, digital storytelling, and understanding online audiences. A calendar for the year can also be found online.
