Job Opportunity: Collection Online Early Career Research Fellow (Portraiture), Watts Gallery
Watts Gallery Trust are currently recruiting for a temporary Collection Online Early Career Research Fellow in Portraiture, to begin in September 2019.
The full time post, intended for an early-career researcher, aims to promote the study of 19th century artists George Frederic Watts and Mary Watts, both of whom established their home and studio in Compton during the 1890s. The research project will involve researching portraiture extensively within the Watts Gallery Trust collections to produce content for the launch of the two-year Collections Online project, and explore crucial links between works across the collections of paintings, sculpture, paper and photography.
Working with the Curatorial and Marketing departments, as well as the de Laszlo Paintings Conservator and other colleagues, the post will provide experience of research within a gallery environment, writing collection records and catalogue entries, carrying out condition assessments, and programming talks, blogs and social media posts to promote the research being undertaken.
