Museums Association Research Project: Sticks and Stones: Bullying in Museums

Museums Association launched a new research project called Sticks and Stones: Bullying in Museums in May 2019. This project aims to tackle the issues of bullying within the heritage sector, which up until now has received limited attention in previous research. The project also aims to equip organisations, line managers and individuals to create a culture where bullying is not tolerated and associated issues are addressed and long-term impacts of bullying are prevented.
Since the launch of the project, Museums Association have further developed a number of resources to further this research and provide baseline information about the nature, scale and impact of bullying. This includes a confidential questionnaire for anyone affected by bullying to share their experiences, an ethical research statement to clarify the aims and objectives of the research project and associated ethical issues, and finally a helpful list of resources and groups that can provide further support and guidance. All of these resources can be accessed via the Museums Association website.
