Upcoming Event: Beauty, Bodies and Social Justice – public lecture by Heather Widdows

The Centre for the Study of Global Ethics has an upcoming 2019 Public Lecture on ‘Beauty, Bodies and Social Justice’ by Professor Heather Widdows on 30th May 2019, as part of the Fifth Annual Conference for the Centre.

Professor Widdows has recently published Perfect Me: Beauty as an Ethical Ideal (Princeton University Press, 2018), a volume which explores the transformation of the status of beauty, the beauty ideal and the wider implications of beauty in the modern world. This lecture will explore similar themes, considering that beauty has become an ethical ideal.

The Public Lecture is a freestanding event related to the Conference taking place within the Centre for the Study of Global Ethics from 30th – 31st May 2019 at the University of Birmingham, entitled ‘Bodies and Embodiment’.

To book a place for the Public Lecture, you can register via Eventbrite. To find out more about the Fifth Annual Conference, please visit the Global Ethics website.
