Upcoming Event: ‘Paolozzi and the Screen: Printing Workshop

An exciting opportunity to gain practical experience of screen printing via a collaboration between Research and Cultural Collections and the Winterbourne Artist in Residence, Claire Leggett, is taking place on Wednesday 1st May at Winterbourne House and Garden.

Exploring materials, themes and influences found within Research and Cultural Collections current exhibition, Eduardo Paolozzi, Moonstrips Empire News, the workshop will look at the process of screen printing and use of day-glo colours and geometric imagery found in Paolozzi’s work. Eduardo Paolozzi (1924-2005) was among the most influential British artists of the twentieth century who produced a variety of proto-pop collages and monumental public sculpture as well as innovative screen prints that combined images and text.  .

Tickets cost £10, or £5 for students.  Tickets can be purchased in the Winterbourne shop or via the website, and student prices are available.

Research and Cultural Collections free exhibition of Paolozzi’s  1967 screen print series Moonstrips Empire News runs from 28th January – 17th May 2019 in the Rotunda Gallery, Aston Webb Building, Chancellor’s Court, University of Birmingham Find out more here.
