Upcoming Opportunity: Call for Participants – Centre for Literary Editing and the Materiality of the Text (CLEMT)

Based within the College of Arts and Law at the University of Birmingham, the Centre for Literary Editing and the Materiality of the Text (CLEMT) brings together academics, researchers and students interested in all periods of literary history. Main interests within the group include the theory and methodology of editing, textual criticism, book history, print and manuscript culture, practices of reading, and the material and digital instantiation of literary texts.

CLEMT are currently planning an event for staff within the University’s School of English, Drama and Creative Studies (EDACS) and postgraduate research students, and are looking for any interested participants. Intended to be held in Semester 1, the event will consider and address practical, theoretical, ethical and/or legal challenges associated with archival research. CLEMT are looking for research students and staff speakers to comprise a panel of 6-8 short presentations based on examples from the speakers’ own research, followed by questions and general discussion.

For anyone interested in speaking at the event, you are encouraged to get in touch with CLEMT (contact details can be found on their webpage) with information about their proposed topic for a presentation lasting 5-10 minutes. Further information about the event when dates and times are finalised will also appear on the CLEMT webpage.
