Volunteering Opportunities: Horniman Museum and Gardens, London
Horniman Museum and Gardens are currently advertising for a permanent Loans Volunteer.
The volunteer post will work with the Collections and Loans Coordinator, and the role involves assisting with general loans administration including insurance, government indemnity, booking transport, arranging photography and updating collections records. The post holder will gain practical experience of packing, transporting and facilitating the movement of museum collections, working with long-term and short-term loans, and researching historic loans. Another associated opportunity with this post will include supporting the Collections Access Officer with the ‘Object in Focus’ scheme.
Based within the museum once a week, the volunteer will work in the offsite collections store in North Greenwich and would suit someone looking to gain collections management experience, and interested in developing an understanding of SPECTRUM Standards and accreditation within museums. The application deadline is 26th January 2020, and the post holder will ideally begin in February 2020. For further information including how to apply, visit the job advert on Jobdesk.
